Hello readers...!
Welcome to my blog...!
" The Da Vinci code " book is revealed secret which open at the end of the novel. The Da Vinci Code is a 2003 mystery thriller novel by Dan Brown. It is Brown's second novel to include the character Robert Langdon: the first was his 2000 novel Angels & Demons. The Da Vinci Code follows "symbologist" Robert Langdon and cryptologist Sophie Neveu after a murder in the Louvre Museum in Paris causes them to become involved in a battle between the Priory of Sion and Opus Dei over the possibility of Jesus Christ having been a companion to Mary Magdalene. ( Wiki. )
This thriller novel try to represent reality of Jesus Christ and bloodline of him and Mary Magdalene. Moreover I want to say that here used Holy grail with symbolic or deconstruction way which confused to reader or audience. Thus as a part of do critical thinking, this task given by Dilip Barad sir, for the more information about this task, click here.
Que.:- 1) Brown states on his website that his books are not anti-Christian, though he is on a 'constant spiritual journey' himself, and says that his book The Da Vinci Code is simply "an entertaining story that promotes spiritual discussion and debate" and suggests that the book may be used "as a positive catalyst for introspection and exploration of our faith."
I think here Dan Brown explored thoughts of anti- Christian and may be he tried to behave or think like Pagan. Even nowadays religions are become problematic for the society but We can't say anything against to powerful religions. ( Ex. Indecent of Swaminarayan and Morari bapu. ) Normally the world divided into two parts, One side is followers ( devotee) of religion who never live without their rigid religion and another side is rational people who never depends on region or spirituality. In the around of us some people live with happily without any religions or beliefs. So here prove one thing that no need to religion for faith and I think religion never given true way of life.
Que.:-2) “Although it is obvious that much of what Brown presented in his novel as absolutely true and accurate is neither of those, some of that material is of course essential to the intrigue, and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has retained the novel's core, the Grail-related material: the sacred feminine, Mary Magdalene's marriage, the Priory of Sion, certain aspects of Leonardo's art, and so on[1].” How far do you agree with this observation of Norris J. Lacy?
Que.:-3) (If)You have studied ‘Genesis’ (The Bible), ‘The Paradise Lost’ (John Milton) and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ (Dan Brown). Which of the narrative/s seem/s to be truthful? Whose narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind?
Que.:-4) What harm has been done to humanity by the biblical narration or that of Milton’s in The Paradise Lose? What sort of damage does narrative like ‘The Da Vinci Code’ do to humanity?
Que.:-5) What difference do you see in the portrayal of 'Ophelia' (Kate Winslet) in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, 'Elizabeth' (Helena Bonham Carter) in Kenneth Branagh's Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or 'Hester Prynne' (Demi Moore) in Roland Joffé's The Scarlet Letter' or David Yates's 'Harmione Granger' (Emma Watson) in last four Harry Potter films - and 'Sophie Neuve' (Audrey Tautau) in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code? How would justify your answer?
It's difficult question for me and I can't justify any women because we can't completely know women's mind but here I will try to justify my answer. In " Hamlet" character of Ophelia came from patriarchal society so that she can't do anything without her father or brother. She has need to permission of them for doing anything. There were Ophelia used as a toy by male characters even Hamlet also. Elizabeth and Hester also felt inferiority in front of male characters. Generally they portrait as for sexuality, married life or take care of children or servant of husband. Hester has good quality to rebel against patriarchal society although she sacrificed so many things. While here Sophie's character represented very clever, more smarter, rational also. She never agreed somewhere without evidence. Thus, I have to say that here Sophie was a presented as modern women character rather than traditional women.
Que.:- 6 & 7) Do novel / film lead us into critical (deconstructive) thinking about your religion? Can we think of such conspiracy theory about Hindu religious symbols / myths? Have you come across any similar book/movie, which tries to deconstruct accepted notions about Hindu religion or culture and by dismantling it, attempts to reconstruct another possible interpretation of truth?
Yes, in the movie I found deconstruction of christian religion but it's not only deconstruction of Christianity but also it's criticized all religions. I notify so many movies or books which based on deconstructed religions. So why we deny any reader to deconstruct religion ? As a my opinion that religion has not any logic or It has not reliable thing also. In current time news paper or TV channel put mirror of religion or baba & babi in front of society. We know very well way their bad activities or rigidity o religion. It means they leads to society or people into darkness. Here I have to put few examples which clearly define religion like as, pk, OMG, The Sacred game...etc. If we look or read religion as a critical way, may be as a result we found there is nothing like God or Goddess. It's some kind of partition among people for personal benefits.
Que.:-8) When we do traditional reading of the novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’, Robert Langdon, Professor of Religious Symbology, Harvard University emerges as protagonist and Sir Leigh Teabing, a British Historian as antagonist. Who will claim the position of protagonist if we do atheist reading of the novel?
I think in the movie Leigh Teabing was not talked without evidence or proof because he was historian and working with treatment of science may be I am not wrong. Here question is that who is authentic ? Science or Religion ?. In the movie I found that there were Leigh Teabing tries to find DNA of Jesus and Mary and also ffound relation between them. So here I have to say that in the movie or book, Protagonist who look from atheist way.
Que.:-9) Explain Ann Gray’s three propositions on ‘knowability’ with illustrations from the novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’.
In " The Da Vinci Code" I found identity of knowledge through Holy grail and Ann Gray...
a. 1) Identifying what is knowable:-
According to my view that I can define from the symbol of pentacle whole story moves the end. So this thing stands in the category off knowledge.
b. 2) identifying and acknowledging the relationship of the knower and the known:-
Here character of Leigh Teabing known reality. As he has known history himself so that he becomes success in decoding the things. Character of Langdon and Sophie also stands in it.
c. 3) What is the procedure for ‘knowing’?
In this concept whole process takes place like, in the beginning Langdon and Sophie looks everything from various perspective and reaches at the end.
Thank you...
Lacy?
According to my views, It's true and I also agree with this points because of Mostly all the things are true but here somethings important for to do effects so through this kind of thing novel became more interesting and fruitful. In the novel I can Found that Akiva Goldsman played vital role through screen writing however it's necessary and also this kind of elements I found through mysterious or thriller scene. Additionally, I notify that they explored all the things with central point of Mary Magdalene and Holy grail.
We know that narrative structure is more important part of the novel. I think in the Genesis loose tone which I found in paradise lost, for example, birth of Eve from Adam ribs but our culture thought that women is base birth of all human being so that women became God. If we see God perspective so may be this all types of thoughts happen fail in to larger context. The ideas of Paradise lost and narrative structure of Milton is more appropriate. In the Milton describe his character more powerful like Adam and Eve more intelligent rather than God because they broken rules and stand against the god. When we read " The Da Vinci Code " representation of the painting is strongly true or scientific. When I see that reality or interpretation at that time I felt that Science has power to convince reader.
Que.:-4) What harm has been done to humanity by the biblical narration or that of Milton’s in The Paradise Lose? What sort of damage does narrative like ‘The Da Vinci Code’ do to humanity?
As we know that so many reader believe that writer's narration is correct but It may be his/her imagination or literary narration. Same thing happen in " The Paradise Lost' and " The Da Vinci Code". In the paradise lost I found that there was remain human center narrative because Milton's character more powerful in front of authority and another thing was there character remain to thinking independently. In the novel "The Da vinci code" put character of Jesus different way. There were discussed about Jesus background, his relationship, various painting...etc. When reader has not proper understanding of literary work so that may be they same assumed its. Thus reader become fail in accepting that so here I have to say that it is pros and cons on human being.
