The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter

Hello reader !
Welcome to my blog...
Happy birthday reader..! Don't have your birthday today ?...No... ?
OK...Same happen with here...let's start...

This task given as for new way looking movie and play with certain things which may be normally never notify by audience and reader's inner side of mind. Last time I saw very short movie only 30 seconds with some questions and confusion but here I am going to discuss on one interesting play of Harold Pinter.

One of the light day which we all exiting to celebrate...what is it ?...yes Birthday....So Here I don't celebrate any one's birthday but I try to clarify  some questions which may be remain in our minds. What is need of birthday celebration? what's object behind birthday party?  how We can say that only that date is our birth date? I have to say that here in the novel celebrated birthday of our protagonist Stanley Weber but that day his not birthday so why they celebrate ? anyway...leave it....Why this play's title given ' The Birthday Party'. For the more information about this task, you can click here. let's start journey of learning with together without waste of time...

'The Birthday Party' play written by Harold Pinter in 1957. He was modern British dramatist during 1930 to 2008. He was good on radio anchor, drama, director, actor and film screening of the play. He got Nobel Prize. This play's behind setting of boarding house and working whole scene around living room and kitchen. This play also known comedy of menace through elements of Pinteresque. This play written in the summer of 1957. He later said that, " I remember writing the big interrogation scene in a dressing room in Leicester.

  • Post-Viewing Tasks:-

Que.:-1) Why are two scenes of Lulu omitted from the movie?

Ans.:-

According to my point of view that here director leave out two scenes of Lulu because I think in the movie director didn't change the direction of viewers. If here director put those scene, so may be It's happen over charming of Lulu's character rather than protagonist of the play. Moreover one reason is that here focus on character of Stanley so There are necessary to his roll present powerful way and audience understand central concept through without unnecessary scene so I think no need to those Lulu's scene and that is unnecessary there.

Que.:-2) Is movie successful in giving us the effect of menace? Where you able to feel it while reading the text?

Ans.:-

In the film some scene reflected effect of menace which create something fear through silence, pause and terrible sound into the mind of audience. When 'The Birthday party' movie opening at that time angle of camera leads to sign of something terrible happen because there are scene open narrow point to broad picture with black car's front and half side and same we felt at the end of the movie.

Moreover when knocking doors and it's open - close  scene create effect of menace with effective sound. There are scene of overpower and verbal violence by Goldberg and McCann on Stanley that is another example of menace. Here I want to mention that film create more effects of menace rather than text.

Que.:-3) Do you feel the effect of lurking danger while viewing the movie? Where you able to feel the same while reading the text.

Ans.:-

When I watched movie at that time I feel the effects of lurking through movie scene like as, When start knocking on the door with fearful sound and moreover when they played game of blind man's buff with light off and scene of verbal violence by Goldberg & McCann at that time I feel more lurking. That is touch still heart because of movie has tools of audio visual so It's more helpful to create and understand that.

Que.:-4) What do you read in 'newspaper' in the movie? Petey is reading newspaper to Meg, it torn into pieces by McCain, pieces are hidden by Petey in last scene.

Ans.:-

There are scene of newspaper reading is reflected power position between husband and wife. Another interpretation is that power-struggle, submissive woman under the man because Meg can't order to Petey but she follows his order and working into kitchen for him rather than reading newspaper. There are lack of cohesion. Moreover here newspaper used for excuse.

Que.:-5) Camera is positioned over the head of McCain when he is playing Blind Man's Buff and is positioned at the top with a view of room like a cage (trap) when Stanley is playing it. What interpretations can you give to these positioning of camera?

Ans.:-

In the movie very well used of Camera language, vivid techniques, new camera angle, close up, long short, light, curious sound...etc which make movie more interesting. I have to say that here camera play roll as a hidden narrative way which try to search hidden of character's thoughts. So without camera and effects it's not possible to understand this play very well way.

In the movie Opening leads us narrow scene to broad scene. There are use some close up like light off which presented there were happen morning from to night. Moreover Camera walking behind the characters and give new way of looking theirs mind. The scene of play game of blind man buff there are camera's position the top of room which presented that Stanley trapped into prison like as animal. He didn't come out from that.

Que.:-6) "Pinter restored theater to its basic elements: an enclosed space and unpredictable dialogue, where people are at the mercy of one another and pretense crumbles." (Pinter, Art, Truth & Politics: Excerpts from the 2005 Nobel Lecture). Does this happen in the movie?

Ans.:-

Harold Pinter restored to theater its basic elements when Petey and Meg neglected to help of Stanley who behaved violently. Harold Printer say in his article that, The real truth is that there never is any such thing as one truth to be found in dramatic art and these truth challenge each-other. Same happen with Stanley. At the end I want to say that everybody felt mercy with bad condition of person but when we become violence so people leave us.

Que.:-7) How does viewing movie help in better understanding of the play ‘The Birthday Party’ with its typical characteristics (like painteresque, pause, silence, menace, lurking danger)?

Ans.:-

Movie has many techniques to present various scene rather than text book because through effects and audio- visual system it help a lot for better understanding of concept. This movie help me to understand some scene like verbal violence and torturing of Stanley, sound of broken newspaper..etc. Another thing is that I feel heartily through movie like pause, silence and lurking more clear rather than reading text. So without audio visual tools it's  all things not get may be properly.

Que.:-8) With which of the following observations you agree:
o “It probably wasn't possible to make a satisfactory film of "The Birthday Party."
o “It's impossible to imagine a better film of Pinter's play than this sensitive, disturbing version directed by William Friedkin".

Ans.:-

I want to agree with the second observation because first of  I can't think about make  movie upon this type of play because It's difficult task to make this type of movie and here Pinter empathetic way used all movie making technique and powerful script. This film also used many things symbolic way. Here I can find that good combination of audio visual things. I have to say that Pinter is not only dramatist but admirable director.

Que.:-9) If you were director or screenplay writer, what sort of difference would you make in the making of movie?

Ans.:-

It's difficult work for me when I am director or screenplay writer but If I get chance so I want to make very tight love story between Stanley and Lulu. Another things I want to change that Stanley has more strength, six paces body and intellectual power rather than Goldberg and McCann. I want to change also end of the play like happy ending film.

Que.:-10) Who would be your choice of actors to play the role of characters?

Ans.:-

If I have to choice of actor to play role of character so I prefer following type of actor like roll of...

1) Stanley- Nawazuddin Siddiqui
2) Goldberg- Pankaj Tripathi
3) McCann- Irfan khan
4)Lulu- Harshita Gaur
5) Petey- Anupam Kher
6) Meg- Jaya Bachchan

Que.:-11) Do you see any similarities among Kafka's Joseph K. (in 'The Trial'), Orwell's Winston Smith (in 'Nineteen Eighty-Four') and Pinter's Victor (in 'One for the Road')?

Ans.:-

Yes, In the play Stanley represent administrative condition, political conflict, thought crime, big brother, torturing by use of power..etc which also I found similarity among Kafka's Joseph K. and Orwell's Winston Smith and Pinter's victor.

Thank you...

Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett

Thinking activity given by Prof. Dilip Barad sir,

Here I want to clarify that what is aspect behind given thinking activity? According to my point of view it’s better way of learning and improving writing skill. If we try to find deeper fidelity so that maybe we can understand thoughts and philosophy of writer with better way. Another aspect is that we can apply in our living life and we live with good habit of thinking whenever and wherever. So here I want to start this activity without waste time So let’s start our journey of learning with together…

  • Samuel Beckett:-

Samuel Beckett was one of the famous Irish novelist, playwright, short story writer, theatre director, poet and literary translator. He was born at Dublin in 13 April 1906 and died at Paris in 22 Dec. 1989. Beckett was awarded the 1969 for Nobel Prize in Literature for his writing which in new forms for the novel and drama.  He also has known for “Theatre of the Absurd”. His work generally focused on the idea of Existentialism and expressed what happens when human existence has no meaning or purpose and therefore all communication breaks down. ( Wikipedia)

  • Waiting for Godot:-

Waiting for Godot is remaining only two characters Vladimir and Estragon who waits someone named Godot. In this play no female character, Plot less play, no beginning no end.  This play also translation of his own original French language play “En attendant Godot”. Its Tragicomic play which divided into two acts.

Que.:-1) What connection do you see in the setting (‘ A country road, a tree and Evening’) of the play and these paintings.

Ans.:-

Caspar David Friedrich is a famous German romantic landscape painter. The visualization and portrayal of landscape in entirely new manner was Friedrich’s key innovation.  According to Friedrich that “The artist should paint not only what he sees before him but also what he sees within him…” So here following painting was drawn by Friedrich may be from which Beckett obtained idea of setting of the play. I think that here Beckett wants to connect with waiting and also two characters who stay on and their notice movements of sun under the tree.

Que.:-2) The tree is the only important ‘thing’ in the setting. What is the importance of tree in both acts? Why does Beckett grow few leaves in act 2 on the barren tree the tree has four or five leaves?

Ans.:-

The ancient symbol of the tree has been representing physical and spiritual nourishment, transformation and liberation, union and fertility. Another way I can connect with reference of Paradise lost which known as tree of knowledge. Same here happen that there are tree is remain as hope but when both are talked about that tree at that time they compare with “ weeping willow tree” and “ Burning Bush tree”  So that here tree used different way because weeping willow also connected with melancholy, dream and death. Another reference of Bush tree which was connected with Moses who was appointed by God. In the play Beckett put only one tree which presented loneliness among the world. Moreover here may be he try to interpret that human being depend on nature because both character reached near tree that’s their get hope and some kind of power for waiting.

Que.:-3) In both acts, evening falls into night and moon rises. How would you like to interpret this “Coming for night and moon” when actually they are waiting for Godot?

Ans.:-

I don’t believe into sun or moon are raising to falling down but Beckett used that so If I want to interpreted that thing with our common life because we know that moon is doing its daily work with time to time so that moon never stop its daily life Same we all spend time to completed our duty. Moon never tired through its work so that it’s indicated that we never become frustrated through common life.

Que.:-4) The director feels the setting with some debris. Can you read any meaning in the contours of debris in the setting of the play?

Ans.:-

If I am not wrong so that Debris is like some kind of discarded garbage and remaining of something destroyed but here I would like to interpret as materialistic way.  We know that when we have not something at that time we feel some kind of missing that thing but when we get that thing then we don’t care. So I want to add that materialistic thing not forever for us. It’s all are like basket of garbage. I also connect with humanity.  We all are born for specific purpose but died without understand of real purpose of born on the earth like debris things. Moreover debris is useless thing and static same we live without useless.

Que.:-5) The play begins with the dialogue “Nothing to be done”. How the theme of “Nothingness” does recur in the play?

Ans.:-

When I study ‘Waiting for Godot’, So that at the end of the play I don’t get some kind of message. There were both wait for Godot who solve all problem of the world but they don’t know about Godot’s look and behavior although both waiting. Here I want to say that both are not waiting but passed their important time behind nothingness. Another way I interpret this line that if we do nothing which not done so as a result we have to more doing work.

Que.:-6)Do you agree: “The play (Waiting for Godot), we agreed, was a positive play, not negative, not pessimistic. As I saw it, with my blood and skin and eyes, the philosophy is: 'No matter what— atom bombs, hydrogen bombs, anything—life goes on. You can kill yourself, but you can't kill life." (E.G. Marshal who played Vladimir in original Broadway production 1950s)?

Ans.:-

I am agree with the ideas of Marshal because normally we thought about better future or happy ending of our life but I think that If we do work with appropriate time with proper process so that at the end of the life we can get as a result something more achieve rather which we think. Another thing is that nobody come to help and solve our problem hence we find solution own way without waiting of somebody.

Que.:-7) How are the props like hat and boots used in the play? What is the symbolical significance of these props?

Ans.:-

Samuel Beckett was well known for used trivial symbol. Here in the play he used one two symbols like hat and boots which check reader’s thinking level. In the play I think that hat also connected with spiritual power, inner charm, intellectual, thinking process, mind and rational life. And boots also connected with body, physical life, earth and roots and dumbness.

Que.:-8) Do you think that the obedience of Lucky is extremely irritating and nauseatic? Even when the master Pozzo is blind, he obediently hands the whip in his hand. Do you think that such a capacity of slavishness is unbelievable?

Ans.:-

In the play Lucky’s character play vital role because He presented many thing like slave, intelligent, dumbness but he doesn’t betray his master. If Lucky thinks about he has whip and run away from there. So that may be Lucky enjoy his life freely but it’s nothing happen there. Moreover after Pozzo’s blindness, he remains free but he works continues as a slave for his master. We also connected this idea with our life that we all are living within so many particular chain which leads to us. We can’t escape from that chain and always waiting for their order.

Que.:-9)Who according to you is Godot? God? An object of desire? Death? Goal? Success? Or . . .

Ans.:-

In the play Godot used like God, object of desire, death, goal and success...etc. If I read as a religion point of view So that Godot is as God but If I think as a materialistic view so that Godot is used as desire so here we can see with various obstacles.  According to my point of view Godot is not interprets as god but as desire for something more achieve in the life which never fulfill. One desire complete then another desire keeps in our mind So that desire never ends and we all suffer through failure desire like Vladimir and Estragon.

Que.:-10)“The subject of the play is not Godot but ‘Waiting’” (Esslin, A Search for the Self). Do you agree? How can you justify your answer?

Ans.:-

Yes, I am agreeing with views of Esslin because at the end of the play nothing happens like message or open secret which reflected meaningless of life. We all are waiting of unknown Godot till our last breath of body.

Que.:-11)Do you think that plays like this can better be ‘read’ than ‘viewed’ as it requires a lot of thinking on the part of readers, while viewing, the torrent of dialogues does not give ample time and space to ‘think’? Or is it that the audio-visuals help in better understanding of the play?

Ans.:-

Audio-visual more helpful for better imagination off scene and understanding but I think here sometime audio- visual remains useless. When I watched movie at that time I clarify about background, setting and frame of film but Sometime dialogues moving very fast between Vladimir and Estragon and monologue of Lucky. It’s difficult to understand so here I want to prefer reading rather than watching movie.

Que.:-12) Which of the following sequence you liked the most:

o Vladimir – Estragon killing time in questions and conversations while waiting

o Pozzo – Lucky episode in both acts
o Converstion of Vladimir with the boy

Ans.:-

I liked to prefer here conversation between Vladimir and Estragon because both characters are present reality of human being during conversation. Moreover both are create interesting conversation through hat and boots. I like to Estragon’s idea rather than Vladimir because his idea rational, try to justify reality of human being and daily life.

Que.:-13)Did you feel the effect of existential crisis or meaninglessness of human existence in the irrational and indifference Universe during screening of the movie? Where and when exactly that feeling was felt, if ever it was?

Ans.:-

In the both traps thinks about suicide on the tree, illusion by boy, hidden chains in our life as character of Lucky who can’t escape from the slavery…etc all the things are presenting existential crisis or meaninglessness of human existence in irrational and indifference universe during screening of the movie.

Que.:-14)Vladimir and Estragon talks about ‘hanging’ themselves and commit suicide, but they do not do so. How do you read this idea of suicide in Existentialism?

Ans.:-

Sometimes struggle leads to suicide. According to escapism and existentialism anybody try to escape from daily life but it doesn’t mean that they have not capacity to face problem.  So in Christianity suicide highly considered one of the parts of sin. Same happen here that both tramps decide about suicide then avoid suicide and again ready to start waiting.

Que.:-15) Can we do any political reading of the play if we see European nations represented by the 'names' of the characters (Vladimir - Russia; Estragon - France; Pozzo - Italy and Lucky - England)? What interpretation can be inferred from the play written just after World War II? Which country stands for 'Godot'? So far as Pozzo and Lucky [master and slave] are concerned, we have to remember that Beckett was a disciple of Joyce and that Joyce hated England. Beckett meant Pozzo to be England, and Lucky to be Ireland." (Bert Lahr who played Estragon in Broadway production). Does this reading make any sense? Why? How? What?

Ans.:-

If we read play with political reading so here we connected Vladimir as a Russia, Pozzo as a Italy, Lucky as a England Estragon as a France and for the character of Godot Germany as Hitler. In the case of Pozzo and Lucky we can connect as master-slave. Here Pozzo represents England and Lucky represents Ireland.

Que.:-16)The more the things change, the more it remains similar. There seems to have no change in Act I and Act II of the play. Even the conversation between Vladimir and the Boy sounds almost similar. But there is one major change. In Act I, in reply to Boy;s question, Vladimir says:

"BOY: What am I to tell Mr. Godot, Sir?

VLADIMIR:

Tell him . . . (he hesitates) . . . tell him you saw us. (Pause.) You did see us, didn't you?

How does this conversation go in Act II? Is there any change in seeming similar situation and conversation? If so, what is it? What does it signify

Ans.:-

Normally both act work similar way but If it above mentioned context we find some differences like as Vladimir. Another thing here Vladimir remain as selfish man who leaves his friend when his motives are not fulfill.

Flipped learning : Existentialism

Hello reader !

Welcome to my blog....

Here this task has given to students by Prof. Dilip Barad sir for better understanding of post colonial mind and literature. Another objects is that  we achieve deep knowledge about absurdity and existentialism through flipped learning. Here I will try to summaries about whole videos with my point of views. So without wasted time let’s start together  our journey of learning…

“Existentialism” is a term that is belongs to intellectual history. Its definition is thus to some extent one of historical convenience.

This term was adopted as a self-description by Jean-Paul Sartre and through the wide dissemination of the postwar literary and philosophical output of Sartre and his associates notably Simone de Beauvoir, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, and Albert Camus who existentialism became identified with a cultural movement that flourished in Europe in the 1940 to 1950.

  • Individual freedom:-
Existentialism in the broader sense is a 20th century philosophy so that it’s focus on the analysis of existence from the specific field or world. The notion that the human beings first try to exist from all belief then they try to individually spends lifetime reforming their essence or nature.

Existentialism also work with some logic and philosophy which help to us finding self and meaning of life through free will, choice and responsibility. If I am not wrong everybody is passing throughout daily life but at that time our choice happen something base on experiences, influences, belief...etc. So that here personal choice becoming like unique that is without necessity but existentialism  follow that every person has own choice and forced to choose without help of ethnic rules and impact o traditions.

  • Absurdity & Replacement:-

Absurdity also connected with certain demand and reorganization. Generally absurd person who wants to live only for what he can be sure of and absurd sometime creating contrast between human reason and unreasonable universe.

According to Albert Camus counter the notion that proper acceptance of the absurd entails suicide and he said that its philosophical problem and he mentions that the source of replacement is best way for that. Camus also explains absurdity through myth of Sisyphus.

  • Suicide vs. Escapism:-

Here Albert Camus the leap of faith as ‘Philosophical Suicide’ because he rejected both this and physical suicide.

According to Camus at the end any person prefer to embraces to absurd condition and freewill which give one opportunity to known real meaning of life. Suicide is way of escapism rather than doing struggle. It means that existentialist tries to put faith as solution which leads us escapism.

  • Dadaism:-

‘Dada’ is a colloquial French term for hobby horse but there are Dadaism is artistic movement for modern art during World War 1. Its object was that ridicule the meaninglessness of the modern World and Its also impacted of surrealism, pop art and punk rock which went to against the standards of society. It was against capitalism and war. It was noticeable movement for free from the different types of obstacles.

  • Desire & liberalization:-

Sometime pop up question in our mind that why we live here? What is purpose of living? I think one of the answers is that living for find meaning of life.

It’s remain everybody’s inner anxiety but existentialism also give goggle of think rationally life which suggest us choose own interpretation of meaning of life rather than another and also taking personal responsibility for life.

Video no.:- 7)
  • Nihilism & Existentialism:-

In this video talking about philosophical movement which help to understand real meaning of life. Mostly we can see that people praying and begging in front of god for their meaningful life. It means that they give something special force or attention to god rather than human being and themselves.

In shortly I would like to say that Nihilism means nothing whereas into world has real existence and Existentialism means that generate something new through experiments and experiences. There are small difference between nihilism and existentialism.

Video no.:-8)

  • Rules & Ubermensch:-

We know that everybody has unconscious desire to rule on other. Here I want to mentioned that Fried-rich Nietzsche say that what is aspect of all are behave like one way or under same rule? because each person different to another so it's impossible task so that According to my point of view it's no need to rules.

If we make own rule for ourselves, not for other. So Ubermensch was suitable example for that. Nietzsche also used same character  zarathustra in his book.

  • Reason behind like Existentialism:-

I like existentialism behind two reason responsible. One reason is that it's challenge to our mind for deep thinking. When we believe in this literary term at that time It's demand to raise question, test then leads to result. Normally common person of society don't think deeply. They all are depend on belief, religion's guru. Another reason is that It's leads to us refreshment and something new invention. I want to add one more thing that If I think as a existentialist so I live my life with reality.

Video no.:- 10)

  • Find Real meaning:-

In this video Existentialism to Existentialism focus on what is realty behind reality  moreover it's try to find real meaning of life and give to answer Why am I here ? Who am I ?...etc. If you are waiting like Vladimir and Estrogen for Godot who came and change your life So I have suggest you that no one can give you real meaning of your life so think own way for your life.

  • I Like... & Learning outcome:-

I like video number nine rather than another because that video is help a lot in better understanding of Existentialism and there are open window for thinker some kind of new way. I have to say that Flipped learning is best way of study because it's save more time of whole person and also give more time to think. We can pause and note down during watching video rather than lecture method. My some classmate don't like to learn through flipped but I say honestly that I get lot enjoy and I get something new information.

Thank you...

August: Revolution & Reliion

Hello reader !

Welcome to my blog....

Here is task given by Prof. Dilip Barad sir, I put following link for more information about this task,

https://dilipbarad.blogspot.com/2017/03/bigshorts-for-india-of-tomorrow.html
https://dilipbarad.blogspot.com/2019/01/country-vs-nation-state-bhagwat-rawat.html

  • August: Revolution:-

A revolution is a very sharp change made to something new and broken power position. This word comes from Latin and is related to the word revolutio which means is that a turn around. Mostly revolutions are usually political in their nature. So that few people feel unhappy with their lives, some are not happy with whole systems and decisions. They might join together and share their ideas then they try to make something change or new. In the revolutions include fighting, and civil unrest but there are also revolutions that happen without fighting. In August month we also celebrated " Independence Day " at University as a part of national festival. Here I put one following video about difference freedom ehich can be helpful to better understanding.

Seldom past remembering example of  the 'Soviet Union' which was made by a revolution so that they killed millions people and later fell apart in a counter revolution without much fighting and another example of the French Revolution  which was much bloodshed. So here question is that is it right way get freedom of us ? Another question is that Is it celebration of bloodshed or for freedom?. Here for further reading just I put two major revolution.

  • North Revolution:-
When the Japanese surrendered on August 15, the Việt Minh immediately launched the insurrection which they had already prepared for a long time. 'People's Revolutionary Committees' across the countryside took over administrative positions, often acting on their own initiative, while in the cities the Japanese stood by as the Vietnamese took control. On the morning of August 19 the Việt Minh took control of Hanoi, seizing the northern Vietnam in the next few days.

Tran Trong Kim's government had resigned earlier, on August 13, yielding to Hồ Chí Minh's new Vietnamese Provisional Government. Hồ Chí Minh offered Bảo Đại a position as supreme advisor. Hồ Chí Minh declared independence for the newly established Democratic Republic of Vietnam, headquartered in Hanoi, on September 2, 1945. ( Wiki.)
  • South Revolution:-

However, when the people celebrated their victory in the north, the Việt Minh faced various problems in the southern part of the country. The south was politically more diverse than the north, and the Việt Minh had been unable to establish the same degree of control there as they had achieved in the north. There were serious divisions in the independence movement in the south, where the Việt Minh, Cao Đài, Hòa Hảo, Trotskyists and other nationalist groups competed for control. On August 25, the Communists established a Provisional Executive Committee with Tran Van Giau at its head. The committee took over public administration in Saigon, but followed Allied orders that the Japanese maintain law and order until Allied troops arrived.( Wiki. )

Thus I have to say that August has not only month of celebration but also month of fighting and blood shed but political people often try to be fool people through admirable language those day.

  • August: religious festival:-
India has variety of religions, culture and language but when month of August start may be most of religions festival combine in one month. I want to say that August is month of God and Goddess because during that time normally blindly people become as devotee of God and worshiping them. People without known celebrate all religion festival.

August is month of Sharavan based on Indian calendar, Rakhshabandhan, Janmashtmi pateti and Parsi New year, Bakri id, Mokat Guri vrat, ekadashi...etc. Whole festivals are come together with message of ' Unity' because major religions festival celebrated in only one month like as, Shravan mahina or Janmashtmi for worship indian Gods. Another side Bakri id is a Festival of Muslim...etc. Moreover during August rainy season starting so it's festival of farmer.

  • Patriotism vs. Nationalism:-

Nationalism and patriotism are two sides of the same coin but there is a thin line demarcating both the ideologies. Patriotism is the older of the two words with published written evidence dating back to the middle of the 17th century. Patriotism came from adding the suffix of -ism to the existing word patriot, which itself came into English from the French patriote and may be traced back further to the Greek word patrios. It's means “of one’s father”. In U.S. usage nationalism is now perhaps most frequently associated with white nationalism, and has considerably negative connotations. So here I put one following video about difference between Patriotism and Nationalism for better understanding.

Indian nationalism developed as a concept during the Indian independence movement which The movement spanned total of 90 years (1857–1947) fought against the colonial British Raj. Indian nationalism is an instance of territorial nationalism, inclusive of all its people, despite their diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. It continues to strongly influence the politics of India and reflects an opposition to the sectarian strands of Hindu nationalismand Muslim nationalism. So that here I have to say that It's nation within nation. Normally social media and political people spoke through topic of nationalism.

  • Country vs. Nation:-

The nation is a term of cultural and a political. whereas country is  term of  the geographical and the political. Both are different word but normally people do mistake in understanding. Both these words are often used interchangeably as they are said to be a synonym of one and another. The close insight into both these words tells that they are quite different, especially regarding the usage. The country refers to the particular area, region or the territory that is controlled by its government but the nation refers to the large body of the people, which are united by culture, common descent, and the history. Here I put one poem " Desh ak Rag he " by Bhagwat Ravat.

Bhagwat Ravat is Hindi poet and essayist. Rawat was born on 13 September 1939 in Teherka village in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. He did his Bachelor of Arts graduation from Bundelkhand College, Jhansi. He completed his M.A., B.Ed in Bhopal. He died on 25 May 2012 due to kidney failure.Although here he used interesting vocabulary and language. He has good sense of sending message through use of two different words. We know that political person blame to us through speech of opposite nation and country. Ravat compared to country with Rag and he said with critical way all things like as, " I am a Indian ". We all are human, not Indian. People doesn't think universally but separately. So what is need of partition. Here put another example of Harishankar Parsai's poem which talked on clearly. I put following video with full explanation.

Partition by W.H.Auden:-

'Partition' poem  described a British civil servant who must decide how to divide Indian land between Muslims and Hindus who hate each other. To prevent further conflict between the two groups, the British government has appointed this unnamed functionary to decide which lands will belong to which group. He is not a native of the region and he knows relatively little about its history and they have his maps are outdated although he has two Hindu and two Muslim judges with whom he can consult, the final decisions about how to carve up the territories are ultimately his. His mission is dangerous because neither group is likely to be entirely happy with the choices he makes.

Auden’s poem alludes to the period in the late 1940s when the people of India finally won independence from Britain. However, severe tensions between Hindus and Muslims led to the formation of two separate countries: India (a Hindu state) and Pakistan (a Muslim nation). At least half a million people lost their lives in the conflicts leading up to the creation of these two countries. However, although Auden’s poem obviously deals primarily with this particular situation, the poem is also relevant to many other recent territorial disputes between conflicting religious or ethnic groups.  Thus, although Auden’s poem is set in the 1940s and specifies a particular example of partitioning, the poem remains eerily relevant in the present day.
  • The Boody line:-

This short film “ The Bloody line”  by Ram Madhvani . This poem also based on poem “ Partition” by W.H.Madhvani and one man who was drew a line for partition between India and Pakistan. Even Nowadays we are feeling that It was unpardonable act. This film re imagines a particular morning that may or may not have happened. That’s the thing about the past. There is no single version, plenty of unseen possibilities, and recreating, or ‘fictionalizing’ certain moments, comes with its own set of expectations. Here, a retired British lawyer (Martin Bishop), one of the most famous – or infamous, depending on how you look at it – names of India’s rushed post-independence reforms, has a conversation of significant angst with his wife (Leda Hodgson), almost twenty years after his defining “job”.

Thank you....
