Yesterday, We visited 'Ankur School' at Sardarnagar in Bhavnagar. First Time I went to there through organization by Department of English ( MKBU). Once upon a time in India Disable child has not proper space in education journey and even in family membership. I saw mostly people misbehave with any types of disable children and person also. So My question is that, Why society hate with them ? May be you will listen name of " Stephen Hawking". He was Physically disable. He can't wear own clothe himself but he worked a lot as Scientific researcher. Can you imagine how he do it ?. Every person has own hidden ability but Who is searching this ability? are you ? am I ? Parents? School?...
Disabilities is an umbrella term, covering impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions. An impairment is a problem in body function or structure; an activity limitation is a difficulty encountered by an individual in executing a task or action; while a participation restriction is a problem experienced by an individual in involvement in life situations. Disability is thus not just a health problem. It is a complex phenomenon, reflecting the interaction between features of a person’s body and features of the society in which he or she lives.
— World Health Organization,
The students of department of English visited ' Ankur School ' for special Children. When We go to Ankur School for special children during that I felt that We were going to meet of "God". First of We managed vehicles for how we wil go through there ? It is nice experience for me.
This school is working for Special children. Bhavna Andhariya Mehta gave all information about them. She explain very well about structure of building, roll of teachers, How to train special children ? and also about management of the school. When we visited special children in class room, I felt that We have more things and ability rather than them. So that Why we give to excuse for do something ?
Bhavna Mehta explained about vivid therapy like as, Music therapy, Play therapy, Physio occupational therapy..etc. She was added that, " We can't grow IQ of special children but We trained them. She gave training like as, How to sleep on bed, How to wearing clothe, How to close button also? It means that they have not able to own work also. They used various factor for became able like as, yoga, Projector, Technical instruments, Play- ground events, Vivid Music and Various game...etc. She give information about 'The National Trust'.
We do more interaction with her. She gave replied of the questions with interestingly. She talked that, they divided children into many categories by intellectualism e.g. High-per, Pre- Vocational....etc. In Pre-Vocational Class students learnt to remembering mobile number, Address, Painting, How to identify color?. They seldom made of paper bag. They will always trained for earning income. So that they are making things for celebration and selling during festivals of Diwali, Rakshabandhann, Navratri...etc. They organized various competition on the play ground and get many great prizes.
When We go to saw in room there are very few students in the class. Normally they all students emotionally connected with teachers and visitors also. They lived in own different world. They can't understand rules of Society. She said, This school gave education without fees and She more added that Mostly students came in Poor family. Generally Students came with parents, through bus and rickshaw. In this school has probably available 30 teachers working for better them. Sometimes We used money without useless like as, for religion events, Smoking, drinking, for personal perspective...etc. So I request that, You must used money and anything help for Special children". It is best way use of money.
At the end of the visiting of the school Bhavna Mehta said that If you have not money even anything So you can only give Smile, Looking nicely them, don't hurt them. You will be see special children surrounding in society So you will guide or help them.
Moreover thanks to Bhavna Andhariya Mehta for give permission and making us enter into the life of the special children and letting witness the journey of their struggle and interaction with us.
